Conn. senator returns to Capitol following stroke

HARTFORD, Conn. —

State Sen. Edith Prague has officially returned to her duties at the Connecticut state Capitol following a minor stroke in December.

The 86-year-old Democrat from Columbia received a round of applause on Friday when she made an appearance at a news conference about home health services.

Prague appeared in good spirits and showed no outward signs of having suffered a stroke. She said she was happy to be with her friends and joked how she can now speak personally about the importance of home health care.

Afterward, she told reporters she still intends to seek re-election.

Prague has represented the 19th senatorial district since 1995. She is co-chairwoman of the General Assembly's labor and elderly affairs committees. She also served in the state House of Representatives from 1983 to 1990.
