HARTFORD, Conn. —

Former Connecticut Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz (BY'-suh-wits) says her campaign for the U.S. Senate raised more than $273,000 in contributions over the past quarter, giving her about $890,000 in cash on hand.

She trails her chief rival for the Democratic endorsement, U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, who recently reported raising more than $720,000 from October through December, leaving him with $2.5 million in cash. He has raised a total of $3.5 million.

Jonathan Ducote, Bysiewicz's campaign manager, said on Friday that his candidate is on track to have the resources she needs to communicate her message.

A third Democrat, state Rep. William Tong, has not yet released his campaign figures.

All three are hoping to ultimately fill the seat being vacated by the retiring independent Sen. Joe Lieberman.
